(0) Everyday. A look ahead at the May 10th event. A Q&A series about the brain w/ Sylvia Becker-Hill | (1) Q: What is neuroplasticity? A: It describes the brain’s ability to rewire itself throughout our lives. It’s a new scientific paradigm proven about twenty years ago. | (2) Q: Why is neuroplasticity significant to your work? A from S B-H: “As humans, we have access to the conscious part of our brain which is small compared to the subconscious part of our brain. And most of our patterns, habits, memories, values, judgments and categories are stored in the subconscious.” | (3) Q: Why do our brain relegate so much to the subconscious? A: “Because it seeks efficiency. To function daily, it needs to compartmentalize things out in order to take care of the “must-do” items.”(4) Q: so why can’t we change/just do it? A from Sylvia B-H: “Because everything in our subconscious is working against it. In order to really follow up with your conscious decision (…) your conscious and subconscious have to be in alignment, or agreement, with the same goal.” |(5) Q: How do you tap into your subconscious? A by Sylvia B-H: “To get the full power for change, you have to get your subconscious on board … change our subconscious in a way that it supports our conscious goals.” | (6) – Sylvia B-H says about the brain and change : “change is hard. so get the help you need to remove the subconscious blocks that are preventing change.”(7) Sylvia B-H also says about the brain and change: “when we start to change ourselves and let go of old resistances, our environment starts to change in our favor.” |(8) Sylvia B-H also put it that way about our brain and change: “we are not doomed to stay the way we are. we can literally redesign ourselves. we can all change in deeper and more meaningful ways that we ever imagined.” |
